Thank You for 2018

First things first a big THANK YOU to all the competitors who have supported the club in 2018 whether it was one-off event or all the whole season. Your support was very welcome, and I would hope you enjoyed yourselves too.

The 2018 season, our fourteenth as a club, has been in many ways one of the better ones. Despite the MR2 drivers leaving us for “greener pastures” after thirteen years of the club supporting them, through thick and thin, the combining of the remaining series has proven to be successful. We have full grids at most venues and some very good racing all through the grid on race day. Silverstone this year being a particular favourite of mine for action.

The season has ended earlier than normal due to starting earlier primarily, which has meant the annual awards dinner moving from the end of November to end of October. The date is Saturday 27 October at the Aubrey Park Hotel where we have held successful ones in the past.

This has been well publicised in the previous weeks but for those who have never been, it’s an opportunity not just for the club to hand out awards acknowledging drivers performances during the season. But to get together socially with fellow competitors, maybe give your support crew a thank you for their efforts in the year while you get the glory, or a thank you to your sponsors, gofers, and wives, partners for putting up with you. This isn’t just for the drivers. We have many who have invited their whole family for a night out/knees up. So why not book a table for you and your friends, six or eight ideally. All are welcome friends, and relations as well as drivers, who enjoy a good night out. Even if you’re not expecting an award (but how do you know) please support the club by supporting your fellow competitors.

Entry fee with a subsidy from the club comes out at £49 per person this year with accommodation at the venue should you want it at £65 single £75 double including breakfast, quite reasonable by today’s standards. 3-course meal with wine plus a glass of bubbly on arrival and disco.

With the event less than a month away it would be good to get a feel for the numbers so if you haven’t yet committed (thanks to those that have) please let me know if you can by Monday 8 latest so we can advise the venue.
