For those who are not aware, the MR2 Classic Drivers have left the club. This series on which the club was founded back in 2004 ran at a significant loss with numbers below break-even last year for most of the events. We had anticipated this back in 2016 with numbers already falling away and suggested introducing a class for the MR2 Roadster in 2017 to secure the future of the series and a stand-alone grid for MR2 sports cars going forward, but this was declined by the drivers. The only option based on the predicted numbers for 2018 was to run them with the other classes, which they decided was unacceptable, but a big thank you to those who have supported the club over the years – enjoy your racing!

However, on the bright side, we have had a significant number of new drivers and cars coming out this term in particular in the Tricolore Trophy series, and even more so the budget 206 GTi Cup of which I believe there are now eight entries. So welcome to all you newcomers, and I am sure you will find a friendly welcome in the paddock when we do see you out with us, as well as collecting your club jackets of course.

Can I ask those drivers with some news whether it’s a new car, a car with tweaks, new sponsor, colour scheme, fab pic of you going sideways out testing maybe? If your new to the club introduce yourselves to the rest of the crew, even new babies on the way we’d all like to hear.

As you may know, the old forums are no more, but there is a new Facebook group forum running alongside the clubs Facebook page. There is also a dedicated Tricolore Trophy page and group administered by the fab Dave Bell.

That’s about it for now hopefully see most of you in four weeks or at another of our events later in the year.
